Headdress Mini Rant

A while ago I saw a post on Animal Jam Whip, the blog you should probably be viewing instead of this one because one is bad and kinda ded

I'm not a fan of stealing/using other people's pictures without permission unless they are stock images so I'll just link to the post

The post has an image taken form the Daily Explorer comments. Someone asks why headdresses were "discontinued" ("discontinued" meaning they will never be in stores again)

AJHQ replies with "They were discontinued out of respect for some cultural groups"

Hey, for once AJHQ actually read and replied to a comment WITHOUT giving an automated and useless response! And the one time they do that, it makes no sense whatsoever

Just a warning, I may or may not be an idiot in this subject. These are just my thoughts from my point of view

I just don't understand how keeping them in the game but making them never available again shows respect. I get what they were going for, but that is not the way to go about doing it. I'm assuming someone out there found them to be offensive because of their culture or something. I don't think having an item like that could be considered offensive at all but I don't know what goes on in other people's minds. If anything I'd find it honorable. But maybe AJHQ got some cultural details wrong on them or something, I don't know. I do like how AJHQ decided to do something about this. But the way they did it makes no sense to me. They made it so headdresses are just like Special Items. They are no longer available in adventures and will never be for sale again. If I was one of those people who found Headdresses to be offensive or whatever, this wouldn't satisfy me at all. They are still in the game and all this is doing is turning headdresses into Aldan bait. People will legitimately fight over these. People will scam and hack other to get their grubby little hands on one of these. AJ doesn't seem to realize that making items never come back is only hurting this game. The reasons forever-rare items work in Club Penguin is because trading doesn't exist. Even if you hack someone in Club Penguin, the worst they can do is get you banned for a few hours. They can't steal any of your items. But in AJ, you have the ability to trade and send gifts. This gives people a reason to hack other people's accounts. I'm not saying they should remove trading. They just need to realize that it's good for the game if everything comes back eventually, even if it's only through things like adventures or contests. My point is, leaving these items in the game but making them completely unavailable so people will fight over them is quite the opposite of "respect"

In the comments of one of my last posts, someone suggested that they should remove headdresses completely but replace then with another cool item. In other words, people who own headdresses will have theirs swapped with a new item. This way, headdress owners can still pretend like they are rare (let's face it headdresses are more common than spiked collars now LOL) and headdresses can be removed out of "respect"

While sor tof on the topic of forever-rares, here are some suggestions on how to make them come back without ruining their value too much. I've posted some of these before but too bad

Items like beta hoods, beta eyes, beta creature masks, and beta elf helmets could be given out to contest winners or news crew winners. Each winner would only get one super rare at random, along with the news crew plaque

Glitched items like magenta furries, glitched lights, glitched yeti, and glitched antlers could all be for sale at a new Glitch Party that's only there for a limited time, OR they could be given to people who report bugs

While I don't think birthday cakes and new years items should come back, maybe they could be rereleased for AJ's 10th bday but be really expensive

I don't think founders' hats should come back either, but they could give them to people who beta test their other games, such as Play Wild or Tunnel Town (I know those games already have "founders" items ((at least Tunnel Town does)) but still)

And as for non glitched or "special" items like gloss wings(?) and headdresses, they should just be extremely rare prizes in The Forgotten Desert, OR a new and very difficult to finish adventure

Rant Ideas?

Since all I can really do now is make large text posts, I might as well make some more rants and/or thought dumps. If you have any topics you want to hear my thoughts about in a large post made of only text, feel free to comment or whatever

Thoughts about membership, monthly gifts, and sending gifts

Yeah sorry for not posting anything in a while. It's going to take me a long time to get back into this game and everything. But anyway, here's a probably messy and unorganized post about my thoughts on randumb topics

I don't know where to start on this. I never know how to start my posts lol im a horrible blogger

I'm mainly going to be talking about changes that AJHQ made to the game that make me want to buy membership less. These things probably didn't reduce membership sales or else they would've changed them back by now, this is just my views on these things

A long time ago, nonmembers used to be able to send and receive gifts freely. Some time after that (I believe it was when monthly gifts first came out in May 2011) they changed it so nonmembers can no longer accept gifts in their giftbox but can still send them and get sent stuff. So for example, I could still send something to my nonmember friend, it would still be in their giftbox, but they can't accept it. Then they eventually made it so nonmembers can't do anything at all with gifts. They can't send them or anything! >:(

I can understand why they took away the receiving gifts thing from nonmembers. That was around the time when member players were a rarity and they needed to do something to raise them sales, ya know? I think that helped sell membership more than they realized. Think about it like this. If you sent a nonmember a really rare gift, they wouldn't be able to accept it but it would still be in their gift box. Let's say someone sent me a beta eye but I was a nonmember. I can't take the gift out of my gift box but it's still there. Knowing that I have a beta eye in my giftbox, I kinda want to get a membership now so I can accept it. It's rare that someone would send you a really rare gift randumbly but still. If you say something really rare in your giftbox, you'd probably want to get membership. But now, you can't get sent things at all as a nonmember. That being said, any potential sales like that gone. I think nonmembers should still be able to be sent gifts >:(

And then there's the topic of monthly gifts. AJ used to send members a special gift every month. These special gift items were never available anywhere else, and AJHQ even said none of them will ever come back. Well, they lied about that and brought everything back in the diamond shop lol
But that's not the point. Knowing that if I buy membership this month I can get something really cool for "free" certainly made me want to get membership. Back in the day, AJ accepted Zeevex as a currency you can use to buy membership with. I remember it being very cheap in comparison to normal currency so I used to use Zeevex points to buy memberships on multiple accounts every month to get multiple gifts. I'm sure I'm not the only one who did this. But now that they added the DLC Shop (aka "the Diamond Shop") there's no reason for anyone to do this anymore. I always have more diamonds than I know what to do with. And to be honest, I don't think most of the items there are worth spending my diamonds on. Really? A knockoff version of flappy bird that they made in 5 minutes costs a diamond? Ripoff >:(

But, if that knockoff flappy bird machine was a "free" monthly gift, I'd probably want 15 of them! Monthly gifts gave the illusion that you're getting free stuff for buying membership, and the way I see it, that would increase the sales by at least some. I don't see any reason to have more than one member account now (except for sekrit personal use lol)

Finally, membership in general. In a perfect world there would be no membership and everyone would be equal, but unfortunately that's not the case. Back when they started making all these features members exclusive, there really weren't a lot of members around. You'd see maybe 1 member per server. Now, it's the complete opposite! There's only like 1 nonmember per server. This tells us that AJ really isn't broke. We have 10 million players and more than half of them have membership. Yeah, AJ's probably swimming in money by now. So now that they're no longer struggling to get sales, I really think they should be giving nonmembers more. Yes, this game needs money to run, but I'm pretty sure they have enough money to keep this game running for many more years. I could be very wrong with this information, but I don't think they'll need any more money to keep it running for a long while. They did recently let nonmembers change the colors of items again which is great! But why stop there? At the very least they should bring the chat log back and have more nonmeber items. Seriously, we only get one nonmember rare every 3 months or something!
